Radius have performed major festivals and concerts throughout New Zealand and are currently completing their second album due for release in December 2015. The fluid lines of Justine S on saxophone and flute combine masterfully with Harry Harrison on dobro, banjo and guitar, generating rich and diverse textures. Together they produce a symphony of sound, blending cross cultural streams from America and Europe. Harry Harrison and Justine S work their magic into lush, soulful melodies and infectious grooves. SUNDAY 25TH OCTOBER, 11AM-1PM: RADIUS JAZZ & BLUES He currently plays for many musical groups including Southern Sinfonia (Principal Percussionist), Brass Bands, Theatre groups, subject2change and Jazz trio “Coleman, Cornish and Craigie”. Rob continues to lead a busy musical life tutoring keyboard and percussion privately and at Otago University. Rob Craige started percussion, violin and piano as a child and later in High school Robert played percussion professionally for many operatic shows in Mosgiel and Dunedin as well as being a member of both the National Youth Brass Band and National Youth Orchestra for three years respectively. Nick Cornish is a stalwart of jazz and jazz education in New Zealand, performing for many years with the Dunedin City Jazz Orchestra, the Calder Prescott Octet, and various ensembles with Trevor Coleman. He is well respected as a music educator, and for his role as principal oboist (and section leader) of the Southern Sinfonia. Nick Cornish, originally from England, has been in constant demand as a multi-wind-instrumentalist in classical and Jazz formations. His orchestral/electronic film score for the multi-award winning Equator series, is one example of his music that has earned him international acclaim.įinding inspiration in diversity, he is a member of a new generation of eclectic composers who is fluent in the languages of jazz, classical, contemporary, electronic and world music, often described as refreshingly unique. ![]() New Zealand & Germany based, and producer of close to 100 soundtracks since 2000 working internationally and through NHNZ (Natural History NZ Ltd). Three times Emmy Award nominated composer, Trevor lives and works from his beach house studio in southern New Zealand. SATURDAY 24TH OCTOBER, 5-7PM: TREVOR COLEMAN KEYS & TRUMPET Here is that rare alchemy at work where each inspires the other, where melodies can twist on an emphasis, and the improvisation is instinctively taken in a new and rewarding direction. Guitarist Gavin is more well known to people than they realise: he has played with the Nairobi Trio, the Jews Brothers, Bravura, created the guitar orchestra Gitbox Rebellion, and has been on albums by Wayne Gillespie, Whirimako Black, and most notably with Robert Fripp. Richard has played for many years in the popular Nairobi Trio and co-founder of Neon Quaver and with his own Richard Adams Quartet had the opportunity to play with legendary flautist Paul Horn at the Wellington International Arts Festival. Violinist Adams is a gifted painter whose work has been exhibited internationally and who believes the visual and musical sides of his personality each set the other on fire. ![]() Richard Adams and Nigel Gavin have worked like few other New Zealand musicians, crafting their art in rehearsal rooms and recording studios, and presented their magic in concert halls and to festival audiences at home, Australia, the US and in Europe. It’s time again for the Queenstown Jazz Festival and No5 Church Lane is proud to be hosting three events this year! Not only will we have our Jazz Brunch going off on the Sunday but we will also be hosting two evening sessions on the Friday and Saturday also!
